After hard work and a number of failures, Milton S. Hershey created the delicious chocolate we love today. Join Laura Keyes as she tells the story behind Hershey’s and how Milton Hershey and his wife, Catherine, shared their vast fortune.

Crafters! Empty your closets and craft rooms to get rid of the clutter. Donate clean, usable, and good quality supplies from your projects: fabric, sewing/embroidery thread, rubber stamps, scrapbooking supplies, beads—you name it! Everyone is welcome on Friday to explore the variety of craft supplies and take home items of your choice! The supplies are free! Leftover items are donated to local charities and preschools.

The emphasis of Bill Gentes work is opioid use and the pathway from prescription drug use to heroin abuse. His presentation stresses the trends he sees and what we are doing to fight abuse in Lake County. Bill Gentes is the director of the Drug Prevention Task Force hosted by the Lake County Health Department.

Just as her character Dorothy, Judy Garland followed the ups and downs of the yellow brick road in her rise to fame. Historian Jim Gibbons will discuss the beautiful yet tragic life of Judy Garland starting with her rise to fame in The Wizard of Oz.
There is nothing better than knitting by the fire during the dark winter months. The Library is hosting Beginning Knitting, Knitwits, and Amigurumi 101: Crochet Kitty to get you started.

Children can drop off one library-loving stuffed animal for a night of fun! The stuffed animals will enjoy a movie, treats, crafts, and of course, a bedtime story—and be sure to follow @lakebluffpubliclibrary on Instagram for live updates during the slumber party! Kids can pick up their special friend on Saturday morning and see photos of their exciting night.

(Ages 5-8) This workshop is a fun introduction to the performing arts. It begins with a reading of Teddy’s Favorite Toy by Christian Trimmer. Then, using the story as a starting point, kids will create their own original play! Parents are invited to attend the adorable performance by their own mini playwrights during the last five minutes of class.

(Ages 2-8 with an adult) Add a little silliness to this wacky day (Leap Day!) and join the Mad Hatters for a lively, interactive, fun-filled program that brings books to life with acting, poetry, and songs. The Mad Hatters are a community project of the Junior League of Chicago.
We have a number of different programs for different age ranges: Tot Time for 0-23 months, Storytime: Together Time for ages 2+ and Storytime: All By Myself for ages 3+.
