Coat Drive
The Annual Coat Drive is organized by Mothers Trust Teens to provide coats (and other warm accessories) to people in need in the Lake County area and neighboring communities. We are collecting clean, new, and/or gently used winter coats, scarves, hats, mittens, snow pants, and blankets. Please find our drop off location in the foyer at the Library's entrance. Collection ends November 16.

We're Thankful for YOU!
During interviews, candidates will often ask what the best part about working at the Lake Bluff Library is. Throughout the years, staff members have always responded with the same answer: the people, hands down. As Lake Bluff Library staff members, we have the privilege of working with some of the best people out there. While it's true that a love of reading and books is a large part of why many of us chose to work at a library, it's our patrons who keep us coming back every day. Thank you for making the Lake Bluff Library such a wonderful place to be.

 We have Nintendo Switch Games!

Letterboxing is an intriguing hobby combining the Internet, map reading skills, puzzle solving, orienteering, artistic ability, and rubber stamping with the fun of treasure hunting for hidden boxes placed in inconspicuous, scenic locations in the USA and around the world.

Drawing on her fieldwork in Afghanistan, Dr. Maliha Chishti shares stories of how Afghan women attempt to reform their communities on their own terms. Along the way, she will introduce the audience to feminist (re)interpretations of the Qur'an that have potentially significant implications for Muslim women who advocate for more inclusive societies. In doing so, Dr. Chishti's presentation will reveal both the myths and realities of women's religious practices, status, and rights within Islam.

Sunday, 11/11
at 2pm
Cyndee Schaffer discusses the role of women in the military and in particular, her mother's experiences as a WAC (Women's Army Corps) in WWII. Other than nurses, the WAC's were the first women to serve overseas during the war. Ms. Schaffer is the author of the book, Mollie's War, compiled from the letters her mother sent home while stationed overseas. The program is in conjunction with the Lake Bluff History Museum.
