Community Engagement Coordinator
Part-time (28 hours with paid sick/vacation and IMRF participation)
Salary: Beginning at $14.00/hr


Are you a creative and enthusiastic team player? Do you enjoy meeting new people, forging community partnerships, and finding new ways to bring the library to the community? The Lake Bluff Public Library is looking for someone like you to join our Adult Services team as the Community Engagement Coordinator.

Responsibilities
  • * Plan, coordinate, and lead a wide range of community engagement/outreach services and events for patrons of all ages. This includes events like our annual Sidewalk Chalk Competition, National Library Week activities, the Arts Festival, Farmer’s Market, the Fourth of July Parade, and others.
  • * Represent the library at community events.
  • * Collaborate with Adult Services programming staff on joint programming/outreach opportunities and events.
  • * Lead the Centennial Committee and coordinate activities for the Library’s upcoming Centennial year in 2019.
  • * Assist with publicity tasks as needed.
  • * Approximately 6 hours of regularly scheduled shifts at the reference and circulation desks.
  • * After appropriate training and certification, process Passport Applications as part of the Library’s passport services.

Requirements

  • * Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a close-knit, team-oriented environment.
  • * Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite. Proficiency with Adobe products and HTML are not required, but would be considered favorably; interest in developing proficiency with appropriate training would also be considered favorably.
  • * Hours are flexible, but will include at least one regular evening shift and occasional weekend shifts.
  • * Library experience is not required, but will be considered favorably. Current or prospective MLIS students are encouraged to apply.

Library Assistant, Youth Services (2 positions available)
Part-time (12 hours per position)
Salary: $11.00/hr


The Lake Bluff Public Library is seeking two friendly and customer service-oriented person to work in our Youth Services and Circulation departments. Youth Services serves ages birth through high school, and Circulation provides information and service to patrons of all ages. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver who particularly enjoys working with children and caregivers and can think on their feet and thrive in a busy and constantly changing environment.

Responsibilities
  • * Assist patrons in locating library materials, and check out materials for patrons at the front desk
  • * With training, answer reader’s advisory queries.
  • * Promptly and accurately answer a variety of patron questions.
  • * Troubleshoot basic problems with the public computers and equipment (resolving printer jams, saving information to flash drives, etc.)

Requirements
  • * Two years of college or current enrollment as a college student is preferred.
  • * This position involves a high level of contact with the public: excellent verbal communication is a must.
  • * Previous library or customer service experience is not required, but will be considered favorably.
  • * Knowledge of children’s and teens’ literature, and an interest in learning more!

Friday: 9:30am-2:00pm

Sunday: 12:45pm-5:15pm
