Part Time Shelver: 2 positions available
Salary: $15.00 per hour
Benefits: PLAWA leave after 90 days
Part-time: 5 hours per week on average
Schedule: Includes two 2 hour shifts during the week, and one rotating Saturday shift.

Lake Bluff Public Library is looking for two new staff members to join our team as Part Time Library Shelvers. As a shelver, you will help keep the Library organized by shelving books and other library materials throughout the building. Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills, be able to work independently once trained, and have a familiarity with public libraries.
Minimum Qualifications
- Some High School, GED, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Dewey Decimal Classification system
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Shelves all library materials accurately, including books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and other items, ensuring they are in their proper location according to the library's classification system
- Organizes carts of materials by type and call number according to the library's classification system
- Organizes shelves, assessing misshelved items and shifting overfull shelves as needed
Work Environment
The work is active. Work may include carrying of lightweight items, such as books and other library materials, heavy materials, such as boxes full of books, pushing of heavy book carts. Work includes bending to low shelves, and stretching to high shelves.
