Service Spotlight: Autorenewal at the Library
Did you know that we have autorenewal at the Library? This improvement launched in June of 2020 and the announcement kind of got lost in the shuffle of the pandemic, so we like to remind everyone about it every so often. Here’s how it works:
- Three days before your items are due, the system will attempt to renew your materials.
- If no one is on hold for your items and you haven’t exceeded the renewal limit of 3, they will automatically renew.
- If you’ve turned on email notifications, you will then receive a courtesy notice with a summary of all of the items that are checked out to your account.
- Check the due dates: if autorenewal was successful, the due date will be 1-3 weeks away, depending on what kind of item you have checked out. If autorenewal was not successful, the due date will be 3 days away.
- Interlibrary Loan items are not eligible for autorenewal—if you need to renew an ILL item, please call the Library or email the reference desk. We recommend doing this a few days before the item due date, as we have to get permission from the lending library.
- Trending Titles are also not eligible for autorenewal.
If you have questions about autorenewal or questions about your account, you can always call the Library at 847-234-2540 or email the reference desk and we’ll be happy to assist you.
