Temporarily Pausing Select Services

Lake Bluff Library will be temporarily pausing its passport, notary, curbside pickup, and voter registration services after October 10, 2024, due to ongoing challenges with staff capacity and availability. While these services are an important part of our commitment to the community, the current staffing constraints make it necessary to suspend them at this time.

This decision is in line with the Library Board of Trustee’s recent announcement on October 1st to extend the Hours Pilot Program through March 31, 2025. While the Library's building hours remain limited during this period, the pilot program aims to explore ways to better meet community needs within these constraints.

Additionally, the Library Board of Directors has begun the process of hiring a new Library Director. The Board has voted to engage a third-party search firm, and more details will be forthcoming as they become available.

The Library is actively exploring options to address these staffing limitations and will notify the community when services are expected to resume. In the meantime, we encourage residents to utilize nearby alternatives for passport, notary, and voter registration needs. Information on nearby providers can be found on the library's website or by contacting the library staff directly.

“We understand the importance of these services and deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause,” said David Seleb, Interim Library Director of the Lake Bluff Public Library. “We remain dedicated to finding solutions to restore these services as quickly as possible.”
