At the Lake Bluff Public Library Board meeting held Tuesday, June 18, Library Trustees discussed and voted to extend the existing Hours Pilot and modify the schedule of building hours. Lake Bluff Public Library provides free access to BookFlix, an online collection of digital books for kids Pre-K through Grade 3. BookFlix helps students develop foundational reading skills through making connections and building background knowledge and vocabulary. Enjoy animated stories paired with non-fiction eBooks from Scholastic. Play word matching games and meet authors and illustrators, too.
One of the primary responsibilities of Lake Bluff Library’s elected Board of Trustees is to ensure the sustainability of the Library, so the organization has a place in the future of Lake Bluff. To that end, earlier this year, the Board and I met for our first professional retreat together to discuss the Library’s current financial standing.

As current Vice President of the Lake Bluff Public Library Board of Trustees, I want to thank you for your continued interest in and support of our Library. I am currently the longest-serving Trustee, elected to the Library Board in 2015. I have served as Library Board Secretary for eight years, and have taken on the role of Chair of the Library’s Building and Grounds Committee for 6 years. I am deeply committed not only to making the Library the best it can be to serve your needs as our patrons and community, but also in being a good steward of the public funds we receive from your property tax dollars.
This week, Lake Bluff Public Library was announced as one of 28 recipients awarded with a "My Library Is" Grant from Reaching Across Illinois Library Systems (RAILS).
The purpose of these RAILS grants is to support projects that help tell the library story and increase visibility and support for libraries. Learn more about the "My Library Is" grants funded by RAILS in their press release.
The Lake Bluff Library will open at 12:00pm on Friday, April 19 due to a staff meeting. The Library will close at 5pm as normal.
Lake Bluff Public Library is excited to announce a new service that demonstrates its commitment to access and the health and well-being of the community. The Library is now offering free high quality sustainable period products through a partnership with Aunt Flow. This initiative recognizes that access to menstrual products is not a luxury, but a basic necessity that should be readily available to all.

Part Time Shelver: 2 positions available
Salary: $15.00 per hour
Benefits: PLAWA leave after 90 days
Part-time: 5 hours per week on average
Schedule: Includes two 2 hour shifts during the week, and one rotating Saturday shift.

In June of 2023, the Library Board of Trustees approved a new Meeting Room Policy. Updates to the policy include greater clarity on usage of the Spruth Room, including more detailed definitions of for-profit use. The Library's internal procedures have been updated to reflect changes to the policy, which is fully in effect as of Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
